Baumeister, a professor of social psychology at Florida State University, wrote an article entitled “Bad is Stronger than Good” in which he noted, “Research over and over again shows … bad emotions, bad parents and bad feedback have more impact than good ones. Bad impressions and bad stereotypes are quicker to form and more resistant to disconfirmation than good ones.” Baumeister and others believe that is because the brain does more work processing “negative” information than it does “positive information.
