In American society, our daily lives are inundated by sexuality. It is found in news stories, television programs, popular music, dating websites, and more. We become so accustomed to this inundation that many of these references pass us by without our giving them conscious thought.

In this exercise you again will act like an anthropologist and carefully examine the world around you. Carry a journal with you throughout the course of one regular day. Make a note every time you encounter an example of sexuality. Did you pass a couple holding hands? Did you receive an e-mail offering pills to enhance your sex life? Did you hear a news story about a government official being caught committing a sexual indiscretion?

After noting all examples of sexuality you encounter in a regular day, please address each of following with your classmates.

1. How many and what examples of sexuality did you encounter during your regular day? Please provide a listing of the examples you encountered for your instructor and classmates.
2. What do you think your findings suggest about American society?
3. Finally based on your experiences, is American culture overly sexualized? Yes or no? And why?
