CHAPTER 11: VOCATION.LIFE

After reading Chapter 11 in McKnight, answer the following four questions. Write your answer on this document. Each of the question is 12 questions in credit, total of 48. This assignment is open from today, Saturday,April 18th until Friday, April 24th, midnight.

Q. “What is vocation?”

A. “A vocation is a calling or an occupation (Links to an external site.) to which a person is specially drawn or for which they are suited, trained, or qualified” (Wikipedia). Though now often used in non-religious contexts, the meanings of the term originated in Christianity (Links to an external site.). Originally priests and ministers were considered a vocation, today being a teacher, coach, doctor, lawyer etc. are also considered vocations. A vocation is based on the idea that God gives all of us special gifts and talents. We are to use those talents not only to make a living (a job or occupation) but use those skills in creating our family, serving our community and nation,, and making the world a better place to live. The vocation I am going to follow is to become a pediatric nurse because of my understanding of children and desire to help the youngest among us. (150 words)
